As the new school year began, COVID restrictions on gatherings were relaxed and Fairmont's performing artists received the welcomed news that they could play to live audiences once again. F all saw the first play since the beginning of the pandemic, Suite Surrender, a one-act farce that explores the idea that even in difficult times, we can still laugh – a lesson that Fairmont students learned for themselves over the past two years. The Prep's chamber ensemble and concert choir wowed at the Spring Concert. In a departure from previous winter productions with traditional chamber ensemble music and holiday songs, last year's concert was a musical review that featured tunes from beloved musicals. Intrigue and suspense marked spring's murder mystery double feature, Where There's a Will, There's a Murder, and Murdered Mystery. As an added plot twist, the cast rotated from performance to performance of this "whodunit" production. Continuing in the rich tradition of VAPA, several Prep students were nominated for the Orange County Register's High School Artist of the Year Awards in their respective areas of specialty – Instrumental Music: Piano, Vocal Music: Non-classical, Theater: Acting, Handcrafted Visual Arts: Hand Drawing and Painting.
