6572 Theatre Design One year course, 5 credits per semester Prerequisite: None Grade level: 9th-12th 6415: Band CP* 5 credits per semester Prerequisite: Two years or more in woodwinds, brass or percussion and instructor���s consent Grade level: 9th-12th (One year course) In this course, students rehearse and perform music of various styles and periods. Class work provides appropriate challenges and technical difficulty for students who have experience playing an instrument and reading music. Students are enrolled in this class by audition only. In addition, students enrolled in the Band class are required to participate in the Pep Band. This includes one week of Band Camp prior to the start of school in August and attendance at all designated football games and events. VOCAL MUSIC 6011: Concert Choir CP* 5 credits per semester Prerequisite: Previous vocal/choir experience. Performance based competitive group Grade level: 9th-12th (One year course) PERFORMING ARTS This course introduces students to basic technical skills necessary in a theatrical production. The students will learn through a hands-on approach in conceptualizing light design and operation; sound design and operation; set design and construction; and general maintenance skills of the theater equipment. Students will also be required to provide technical support for at least two of the productions occurring in the Prep Theater in order to receive credit for the course. 6411: Orchestra CP* 5 credits per semester Prerequisite: Two years of strings, woodwinds or brass, or private instruction. Admission is by audition only. Grade level: 9th-12th The Fairmont Choir is the vocal ambassador for the Fairmont Prep Academy. The study emphasis of this group will be determined yearly, but its main responsibility will be to prepare a wide variety of vocal presentations to be performed at open houses, holiday events, school commencement, community and competition events. Orchestra includes brass, woodwinds, strings and percussion instruments with a focus on playing a variety of music from Baroque, Classical, Romantic and contemporary eras. Additional music literature performed may include jazz, popular music and music from movie soundtracks. 6013: Choral & Musical Theater/Show Choir CP* 5 credits per semester Prerequisite: Previous vocal/choir/dance experience Performance based competitive group Grade level: 9th-12th (One year course) The Fairmont Show Choir course focuses on performing and singing in the styles of Broadway tunes, popular songs, jazz and rhythm & blues. The main responsibility will be to prepare a variety of vocal performances for school events and presentations.
