COVID lowered the curtain on some of our visual and performing arts (VAPA)
endeavors at the beginning of the school year. But the unwelcomed intermission
didn't prevent our students from nurturing their interest in the arts nor displaying
their considerable talents. Several Prep students were nominated for Orange
County Register's High School Artist of the Year Awards, one of whom had her
work — which was a reflection of her response to the pandemic — featured on the
paper's front page. For the first time in school history, a student was accepted to
the prestigious NYU Tisch School of Arts/Kanbar Institute of Film and Television.
One major highlight of 2020-21 was the launch of the Fairmont Music & Dance
Academy, a program that provides young artists an innovative educational
experience which integrates music or dance training into the academic school day.
We partnered with OC Music and Dance, one of
Southern California's premier music and dance
schools, to bring this unique opportunity to our
6th - 12th grade students.
