Teachers have been trained and equipped with the technology that allows us to 'keep teaching' our Fairmont curriculum to both in-class and remote learners. I am able to connect with my online learners using Swivl technology. I feel as though the students are right with us in class. Remote learners are watching and participating in all of our daily lessons and activities. Using Seesaw as our Early Childhood platform, we are even more connected. Communication has never been better. Lynn Anderson Fairmont kindergarten teacher REMOTE INSTRUCTION Taking the lessons we learned about remote instruction last spring, Fairmont augmented our program to make it even more robust when we opened the 2020-21 school year, with the introduction of live streamed classrooms and a heavy investment in supporting technology and teacher training. Fairmont's Education and IT departments developed a remote learning approach which gave students a virtual window into the classroom, connecting them with teachers and classmates for an immersive experience via live streamed instruction. We invested in technology and training to foster engagement and a deeper sense of connection for our Zoomers. Swivl robotic devices, coupled with iPad cameras, allowed students at home to see their teacher, just as they would if they were seated in the classroom. Big screen monitors in the classrooms enabled teachers to view their remote students.
