Dubbed the "Tiger Woods of Badminton," Chew started playing when he was little over a year old, winning his first gold medal at the age of five at the U.S. Badminton Junior Nationals in the "9 and under" boys doubles and singles categories. A lifelong Orange County resident, Chew attended Fairmont Private Schools – Anaheim Hills Campus from preschool through 6th grade, practicing badminton up to three hours per day. With his "dream" of making the Olympics in sight, Chew left Fairmont so he could devote himself to practice, training upwards of seven hours a day. Hard work and dedication paid off, as he won gold medals almost every year from 1999 until finally achieving his goal and competing at the Rio Olympics in 2016. Phillip currently attends the University of California at Irvine, studying Business Economics, with the goal of competing at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, this time with his brother (and former Fairmont student) Ryan as his teammate and doubles partner. TERENCE CAMILON, CLASS OF 2016 Class of 2016's Terence Camilon was a standout student at Fairmont Prep, maintaining a strong GPA while dividing his time between his studies, sports, and extracurricular activities. Among his many accomplishments, Terence trained with the Long Beach Boathouse Team and was twice selected to compete at Junior Nationals for U.S. Rowing. He dedicated countless hours to volunteer work with the Ronald McDonald House Charities and is a co- founder of the Beyond Hunger Club. Terence also performed research on Down syndrome, co-authoring a medical paper under review for publication. The last of a family of brothers to graduate Fairmont, Terence chose to attend the College of Charleston, after having received offers of admission to Boston University, Case Western Reserve, Drexel, George Washington, University of the Pacific, Temple, and Union College. CHRISTINE FONG, CLASS OF 2007 A Fairmont student from preschool at Anaheim Hills all the way through graduation at Fairmont Prep, Christine Fong didn't know what she wanted to be when she grew up, but she knew she was prepared for whatever came her way. Today, Christine is a Job Captain/Project Manager for MCG Architecture in Irvine, California. She leads the Starbucks account team, providing management, design, coordination, and construction document production in all project phases for over 75 new and remodeled stores in Los Angeles and Central California. By the end of 2017, Christine hopes to be a fully licensed architect. A member of the Class of 2007, Christine was active beyond academics, participating in varsity basketball, cross country, track & field, and yearbook, before moving on to earn her degree in architecture from the University of Southern California.
