www.fairmontschools.com | 31 WHAT OUR STUDENTS ARE SAYING The best part about being a Fairmont student is getting involved outside the classroom. Fairmont is known for its academic rigor, but it's important to know what else Fairmont has to offer. In my opinion, the experiences you have outside the classroom are what help you grow as a person, build your character, and help in getting to know yourself. - Manveena Singh The best thing about Fairmont is that it operates as a close-knit family. The students, faculty, staff and administration create a culture of excellence all while keeping the feeling of family and unity close to the work, academics, and activities. All in all, a great place to get a world-class education. - Kishan Patel Kishan Patel and Manveena Singh have both attended Fairmont Schools since preschool and are currently part of the class of 2016. ALUMNI HIGHLIGHTS ARTHUR GARCIA (CLASS OF 2013) Arthur Garcia is now pursuing a Radio-TV-Film (RTVF) degree at California State University, Fullerton. Entering his junior year in the program, Garcia is now the studio manager of Titan Communications, CSUF's digital media station located under the campus' library building. As a Prep student, Garcia was heavily involved in Husky Vision, led and advised by Mr. Nick Ochoa. Ochoa states that "[Arthur] was one of the most dedicated students that I've ever had and brought a level of professionalism to the class. Arthur excelled in many areas of filmmaking, but the skill that stands out the most was his skill with the camera." Hoping to become a director of documentary-style and independent films, Garcia is now building upon the foundation laid by Husky Vision and hopes to use his time with Titan Communications to hone his craft, make networking connections, and build a strong portfolio of demo reels. "I am immensely proud to have had the opportunity to teach and mentor him." - Mr. Nick Ochoa, Husky Vision Advisor CHLOE MA (CLASS OF 2013) Fairmont Preparatory alumna Chloe Ma spent her summer working as an operations intern at the Global Nomads Group, a nonprofit that uses technology to establish cultural exchange between young people around the globe. A self-identified 'global citizen,' Ma was born in China and relocated to southern California to attend Fairmont Prep. She is currently studying French and Government at Hamilton College in central New York and aspires to connect the world's youth through technology, hoping to encourage more global citizens. Ma was featured in an August 2015 Hamilton College news article regarding her work with the GNG and her dream to start her own international non-governmental organization. She stated that "GNG deeply believes that virtual exchanges can promote empathy, peace, and build 21st century workforce skills. The future of the world depends on us, the next generation." Looking to further her global engagement, Ma will be studying abroad in Paris next year. While at Hamilton College, Ma has also worked as an intern for the Community Outreach and Opportunity Project and hopes to attend graduate school to attain either an MBA or MPA before establishing her own international NGO.
