Jack Renton Shines as one of OC Register Family's "Top Students of 2013" In a school of high-achieving students, Anaheim Hills Campus 8th grader Jack Renton stands out as a natural leader. With a charismatic personality and a maturity well beyond his years, Jack's teachers have already suggested that a campaign for the Presidency is in his future. He is a remarkable public speaker—poised, articulate, and persuasive and is the first boy in OC Debate League history to win back-to-back Golden Gavel Awards. A straight-A student with an exemplary academic record, he represented Fairmont in the OC Science Fair with his project "Live Green, Build Green." In addition, Jack plays both golf and basketball and is an accomplished pianist. Fairmont was very proud to be represented on the annual who's who of top students by such an all-around amazing student. 6th & 8th Grade Whiz Kids Excel on AP Calculus Exam On May 8, Kyle Kishimoto (age 11) and Ejay Cho (age 14) assembled into the Fairmont Preparatory Academy gym with a class of high school students to take the Advanced Placement (AP) Calculus Exam. Though the high school students towered over him, Kyle was not intimidated. He had studied hard and is used to being in high school classes, having taken Honors Chemistry in fifth grade and both Biology and AP Calculus this year. "Everyone is nice to me," said Kyle. "It is fun to take math and science classes at the high school, but still be in my regular sixth grade class at the Historic Anaheim Campus the rest of the day." For level-headed Ejay, the thought of taking the AP Calculus Exam was nerve-wracking, but he still prioritized by getting a good night's sleep before the big test. After the grueling four hour exam, Ejay reported feeling good, saying: "It was hard… But not too hard." When their results arrived in July, both Ejay and Kyle discovered they had scored high enough on the test to earn college credit! www.fairmontschools.com | 6
