Alumni & PARENT TESTIMONIALS For Fairmont Private Schools' President David Jackson, keeping in contact with alumni is a priority and one of the most rewarding parts of his job. In 2013, Mr. Jackson called every alumnus/ae from the last five years personally on his or her birthday to send his regards and to hear about their journey after graduation. Here are some of the dynamic conversations that emerged in 2013: R ani B. (Class of 2009) is attending Albany Medical College for her MD Program and recently returned from a semester in London. She is currently volunteering for Dr. Bob Paeglow, who has received both local and national recognition for his work with the underserved including the Humanism in Medicine Award in 2006 and the 2009 Jefferson Award for Public Service in the Capital District of New York State. Rani feels that she is more than prepared for the tasks she is asked to perform because of all she learned at Fairmont. In her words, "I am constantly doing things in the doctor's office or in class that I remember doing in high school; things that Dr. Katz and other teachers taught me." She is looking forward to working with Mother Theresa's organization, the Sisters of Charity, this summer. Kevin L. (Class of 2011) Kevin recently transferred to USC and was surprised at how prepared he was for the demanding coursework of a top university. He is finding his sophomore year history class much easier than Mr. DuVall's history class at the Prep! Fairmont's diverse student body prepared Kevin to connect with his international classmates at USC. He feels that Fairmont brought the world to him. He has grown as a student and a person because of his interactions with students of different nationalities and backgrounds. USC professors, assistant professors, and teaching assistants have complimented Kevin on his strong writing skills, something Kevin credits to all of the help he received from Mr. Silver at the Prep. Michelle H. (Class of 2009) Michelle graduated from The Art Institute in Orange County in just three and a half years with a bachelor's degree in Fashion Design. She has interned with the former CEO of GAP and recently completed a 10-week internship at PacSun. Michelle is currently attending the Academy of Art in San Francisco. She credits Fairmont and her AP art classes for helping her realize that she wanted to pursue art as a career and for providing her with the tools to start building her portfolio. As our son enters one of the top medical schools in the nation, I have to look back and thank all of those that got him there. If it was not for the foundation that he received at the Historic Anaheim Campus, I doubt that he would have achieved his dream. A big thank you to all his teachers and the administrators for giving our son the tools needed to be the best that he could be. Fairmont Parent, Historic Anaheim Campus (Via Greatschools.com) When I was looking for a Preschool for my son, I checked out a lot of places, but Fairmont's Historic Anaheim Preschool really impressed me, with 6 different preschool classes... Early Childhood Education is all that this place is about. Some schools only have one kindergarten class, where the teacher is all alone to come up with new and inventive ideas. At Fairmont the teachers and staff are all working with the same age groups, and are able to share ideas and come up with new and exciting ways to engage their students. Fairmont Parent, Historic Anaheim Preschool (Via Yelp.com) Fairmont North Tustin is a great school. I have had my children in both private and public schools and this is by far the best. The state budget cuts do not affect this school and you will find that art, music, science, drama, computers, foreign language, instrumentals and PE have not been cut. Class sizes are small, with dedicated teachers. If I could do it all over again, I would start both of my daughters here in preschool. Fairmont Parent, North Tustin (Via Greatschools.com) Education is the greatest gift a parent can give to their child. Our child has attended FPS since preschool and is very fortunate to be surrounded by an environment where everyone is there to help the students become successful with their high school and college outcome. The resources available to the students are incredible; the Prep Plus Program is a list of afterschool activities that is included in your tuition and even includes tutoring! The new counseling center offers a ratio of 1 counselor to 80 students, which is unheard of!!! Fairmont Private Schools: Keep up the fantastic job you do not only for your students, but for us parents too! I truly encourage any parent that is looking for academic excellence and well roundness for their child to take a look here. We've been very, very happy. Fairmont Parent, Preparatory Academy (Via Greatschools.com) I had originally intended to enroll my child in a Catholic school. I attended Catholic school from 1st through 12th, and was disheartened after interviewing with two schools. The academics were lacking and there were other issues. I was impressed with the reception I received [at Fairmont], the happiness of the teachers, the academics, and discipline. While the tuition is expensive, it is well worth it. You do have options. They have extended care and a good selection of extracurricular activities. Fairmont Parent, Anaheim Hills Campus (Via Yelp.com) www.fairmontschools.com | 30
