2013 SPORT HIGHLIGHTS Coach K AHLWEISS wins coach of the year Fairmont Prep volleyball coach Katie Kahlweiss was named 2013 Coach of the Year for the San Joaquin League. Coach Kahlweiss led the young Lady Huskies volleyball team to a second place finish in their league. She says, "When I coach I love to teach the girls about technique, teamwork, and discipline, but mostly I enjoying teaching the strategy of the game." North Tustin Cheer Squad Takes 3rd Place in Nationals Earlier this year, the North Tustin cheer team flew to Orlando, Florida to participate in the National High School Cheerleading Championship (NHSCC) in the Youth Recreational Category. The NHSCC, sponsored by the Universal Cheerleading Association, is held at the Walt Disney World® Resort and is the most prestigious cheerleading championship in the country. The cheer team, coached by Ms. Bradley and Mrs. Yujuico, did a phenomenal job. They took the stage in front of hundreds of people, displaying confidence and energy while also delivering a great routine. The coaches knew that with their routine's high degree of difficulty a high score would be very hard to achieve. Undaunted, the girls performed well, using their strengths to connect with the crowd. Their scores earned the team a third place finish from a national pool of seven teams. The cheer team's performance left little doubt that they deserved to be ranked among the best cheer squads in the country.
