Debate (Junior High & High School) Fairmont's junior high debate students compete in the Orange County Debate League against students from 10 other local schools including: Heritage Oak, Pegasus, Serra Catholic, and Orange Crescent. They compete in five Orange County League Tournaments each year, as well as the Middle School Public Debate Program National Championship (upon qualification). Orange County Debate League Championship Individual Speaker Awards 1 Fairmont's High School Debate program, introduced in 2012 under the leadership of Dr. Matthew Brandstetter, Fairmont Preparatory Academy Dean of Academics, has quickly become a local, regional, and national contender. Fairmont Prep students compete in the National Forensic League against other local high schools including: Northwood, Oxford, Fullerton, and Sage Hill. Tests include: math, art, music, economics, social science, science, language, and literature. Additional competitions include speech, essay, and interview. Each year, the subjects are created around a common theme.
