Our Panthers showcased empathy, entrepreneurial spirit, and an expanded global lens through meaningful student-led initiatives. The "Hope for Ukraine" project saw students creating wooden doves, painted blue and yellow, and offering them to the school community in return for donations. Each donor penned a heartfelt message of solidarity on their dove. The contributions were used to purchase essential goods which, along with the hope-inspiring doves, were sent to a Ukrainian refuge center. Another group of students initiated a pen pal partnership with children at Fairmont's partner schools in Taipei. This wonderful effort provided our students with a unique perspective, broadening their worldview and fostering international friendship. Historic Anaheim's reputation for Academic Pentathlon excellence was fortified in 2022-23. After placing first in Orange County and then in California, the school once again extended its reach to the national stage. The 8th grade team placed first in the Super Quiz and earned second place overall team honors, with one student being named the top overall participant in the country for the third consecutive year. At the Orange County Science & Engineering Fair, students collected 15 total awards (including three first place) and four were invited to participate in the Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge — one of the nation's most prestigious middle school STEM competitions. In the speech and debate arena, the Panthers captured third place at the National Modified Parliamentary Debate Championship. A rising individual debater partnered with a Prep student at the Georgetown Invitational to take top honors in the novice division, besting 190 other teams from five countries and seven states. Almost a half-dozen Panthers became published authors last year when Young Writers USA selected their creative writing works as among the best in the Ancient Adventures Competition. Students selected a historic person, place, or event to inspire their own mini saga. #2 SCHOOL IN NATION United States Academic Pentathlon #3 TEAM IN NATION Modified Parliamentary Debate Championship EXCELLENCE IN STEM 4 Thermo Fisher JIC National Competition Invitations
