W
inter brought the free-form comedy, "The
Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon," chock-
full of lively audience participation, as
two narrators and several actors melded 209 stories
ranging from classic Grimm fairy tales to more obscure
tales into one story. In the spring production, "The
Bookstore," a busy city-dweller inherits a seemingly
enchanted bookstore, torn between its preservation
or a lucrative sales offer, while the store weaves its
magical allure over the surrounding neighborhood.
We were treated to two wonderful performances from
the chamber ensemble and concert choir last year. The
winter concert featured beloved holiday songs, while
spring brought a vibrant Mexican-themed showcase
with music from Encanto and Coco.
The 2022-23 school year
saw Fairmont's VAPA
students once again shine
in their own spotlights
through theater, music,
and visual arts.
In keeping with the rich tradition of
our VAPA program, students garnered
considerable recognition for their work.
Six visual arts students were recognized
for their entries in Scholastic Arts'
national competition — the nation's
longest-running and most prestigious
recognition program for creative teens,
and several more were nominated for
Orange County Register's Artist of the
Year Awards in their respective fields —
Instrumental Music, Film and Television,
and Fine Arts.
