In just their first year as an independent squad, Warrior debaters made a name for themselves. They fielded a "Distinguished Team" at the National Modified Parliamentary Debate Championship and bested the competition at both the OCDL Holiday Tournament (Novice Division) and Spring Classic (Open Division). The burgeoning visual and performing arts program saw several students' artwork displayed across the county, some of which received special recognition. Multiple opportunities were added in 2022-23 for students to showcase their talents in music, voice, and dance. A group of high schoolers embarked on a memorable and meaningful trip to Costa Rica over winter break for a rich time of serving others. They also engaged in hands- on learning and immersed themselves in the culture and customs of the country. Fairmont SJC educators are proponents of extending learning beyond the classroom and trips like this provide the opportunity to do just that. INCREASE IN TOTAL ENROLLMENT SINCE CAMPUS OPENING 500% DISTINGUISHED TEAM Modified Parliamentary Debate National Championship 1ST PLACE CALIFORNIA SPACE TEAMS GLOBAL COMPETITION The 2022-23 school year was teeming with inaugural milestones which made the student experience even more dynamic. Some "firsts" included the Homecoming Dance, breakthrough titles in athletics, participation in the historic Swallows Day Parade, short-term international student visitors ("Winter Warriors"), Prom on a 100-foot yacht in Newport Harbor, and leadership training with Jill Thomas, LMFT and the Orange County Department of Education. Our neighbors in the community took note of the excellence of San Juan Capistrano's newest school, as evidenced by Fairmont SJC being named a finalist for Business of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce.
