TOTAL AP STUDENTS WITH SCORES 3+ 90% AP SCHOLARS W/DISTINCTION 3.5 on all AP Exams, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more exams 43 2020 saw schools closing their doors and quickly pivoting from on-campus instruction to remote learning. As a result of the shift to remote and the disruptions it caused to the educational landscape, education researchers across the nation predicted students would experience an unprecedented learning loss, referred to as the "COVID Slide." Like the vast majority of public and private schools across the country, Fairmont did not conduct our regular battery of spring standardized tests in 2020. Instead, we started the new school year with several formative assessments designed to give teachers a baseline of where our students were and what we needed to do to help them continue to thrive. We were delighted when our results showed that Fairmont's students did not experience the predicted COVID Slide — in fact, in some instances, they even showed signs of significant growth from the year before! Teachers used test results to help further differentiate instruction last fall, meeting the needs of all students whether learning from home or on campus. When the environment shifted and the nation went into an unprecedented change because of Covid-19, Fairmont didn't skip a heartbeat, didn't give up on the children, but rather adapted and continued to lead the students forward.
