COVID inserted an unwelcomed intermission in our visual and performing arts (VAPA)
endeavors in early 2020. The pandemic hit shortly before March's Variety Show and
April's VAPA Showcase. But the curtain didn't completely go down on our students'
ability to nurture their interest in the arts nor to display their considerable talents.
Several Prep students were nominated for Orange County Register's High School
Artist of the Year Awards, with one being named as semi-finalist in this highly-
competitive contest. Our Advanced Placement visual arts students even managed to
achieve some of the highest test scores on record at the Prep.
One major highlight of 2020 was the launch of the Fairmont Music & Dance Academy,
a program that provides young artists an innovative educational experience which
integrates music or dance training into the academic school day. We partnered
with OC Music and Dance, one of Southern California's
premier music and dance schools, to bring this unique
opportunity to our 6th - 12th grade students.
