Students may use the time to study independently, work in small groups, get tutoring help from teachers, or they can simply unwind and relax to tackle the rest of the day. V I SUA L A N D P E R FOR M I N G A RT S Fairmont Preparatory Academy's Visual and Performing Arts Departments offer students an array of classes in subject areas including art, photography, drawing, graphic design, theatre arts, choir, orchestra, fashion design, and more. By taking visual arts courses, students learn how to see their world. SP E E C H A N D DE B AT E P RO G R A M Fairmont's junior high and high school speech and debate programs offer students a significant edge in the college admissions process and in the pursuit of challenging careers. Participation in speech and debate provides students real cognitive and behavioral benefits, such as improved reading, communication, and critical thinking skills. ROB O T IC S P RO G R A M The Robotics Program explores the continuous progression of technology by blending creativity with physics, computer programming, science, engineering, and other academic principles in order to solve daunting technical challenges. Students learn and use sophisticated software and hardware to build a robot of their design. Students participate in an internationally renowned competition hosted by FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology).
