International Programs Fairmont���s International Education Program is known throughout the world as a leader in international education for junior high and high school students. This summer we combine the best of Fairmont���s challenging language acquisition program with all the excitement of a California summer! Our international camp programs are ideal for students who want to build language skills while enjoying cultural immersion in Fairmont���s fun, hands-on learning environment. Fairmont will place international students in the correct program based on their assessed language ability. ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND AMERICAN CULTURE CAMP (GRADES K���6th) Fairmont���s unique program offers English language instruction in conjunction with a cultural immersion component designed specifically for international students. Students benefit from intensive English language instruction each Monday through Thursday morning. In the afternoon, they have the opportunity for hands-on language learning and cultural exchange as they participate in Fairmont���s summer camp together with American students. On Fridays, international students join their new American friends on excursions to a number of world-class destinations in sunny Southern California. Students will be assessed upon arrival and placed in the appropriate grade/ability group. Please note that students must enroll for a minimum of two consecutive weeks. Weekly, June 24���August 9 | Monday���Friday, 9:00 am���4:00 pm Full-day program: $499/week Fairmont offers customized group packages to meet your international student group���s specific needs. Jamie Gonce, Director of Summer Programs jgonce@fairmontschools.com | 714.765.6300 ext. 2759 ENGLISH ACQUISITION CAMPS (GRADES 7th���12th) Fairmont offers thematic language camps to assist language learners with English acquisition--all while enjoying the sights, sounds, and tastes that are unique to Southern California. Fairmont���s interactive reading, writing, listening, and speaking activities are designed to encourage critical thought and inquiry. Students focus on vocabulary acquisition, grammar, and pronunciation. They also learn about world issues that impact their home countries, as well as America, through exposure to science, history, American culture, macro and microeconomics, and world landmarks. Weekly, June 24���August 9 | Monday���Friday, 8:30 am��� 5:00 pm Full-day program: $799/week Introduction to American Colleges (June 24-28) Considering attending college or university in the United States? Join Fairmont this summer as we tour top colleges in the Southern California area and learn more about the American college experience, the college acceptance process, and how to prepare for top college acceptance. Plus, you���ll boost important English language skills and add impressive experience to your college resume! Includes a trip to an American University. The California Experience: Surf���s Up! (July 1-12) No camp will be held on Thursday, July 4th Through fun activities like listening to Beach Boys tunes and exploring California's coastal ecosystems, you���ll discover the fashion, music, and art of California���s beach cities all while learning important speaking, writing, and conversational English skills. Includes Friday trips to the Huntington Beach Surf Museum and shopping on the Pier (7/5), as well as Sea World (7/12). The California Experience: Hollywood (July 15���July 23) Explore the glamour and glitz of Hollywood and famous big screen stars while focusing on English language acquisition. Who knows, you may even have your very own celebrity sighting! Includes Friday trips to the Hollywood Walk of Fame (7/19) and Universal Studios Hollywood (7/23). The California Experience: American Culture (July 29���August 9) Shop and eat your way around Southern California but also dig deep into several issues facing American culture to understand more about what it is like to be a teenager in Southern California. Includes Friday trips to the Irvine Spectrum Mall (8/2), and Disneyland (8/9). Please note: Trips are subject to change. Drop-off and pick-up times may change on trip days.
